Unusual application for a roller
Hamm AG supports activity against counterfeit copies
On Monday 23 March, a 12 t Hamm roller quickly, totally and irreparably destroyed around 1000 counterfeit copies of the popular Reisenthel "Carrybags". The unusual application of the construction machine took place as part of an action week against product and trademark piracy initiated by the North Rhine Westphalia Economics Ministry.
Flattened counterfeit copies: With this activity, the 12 t roller destroyed counterfeit "Carrybags" with a market value of 40,000 euros in just a few minutes.
The owner’s son of the manufacturer of top-quality accessories, Patrick Reisenthel, as well as Secretary of State, Dr. Jens Baganz from the North Rhine Westphalia Economics Ministry and Friedrich Bock from Hamm AG at the launch of the action week against product and trademark piracy. A large variety of actions raises awareness of the dangers of counterfeit copies. At the same time, strategies are being highlighted in order to effectively deal with counterfeit copies.
Hamm was happy to take part in this activity because "as traditional trademark manufacturers we know that hard work over many years and qualified staff are necessary to develop top-quality products and ensure quality", said Marketing Manager, Gottfried Beer. Producers of counterfeit copies do not put in all this hard work. Therefore, their products are cheaper – and of inferior quality, as they don't have the necessary know-how. Anyone who thinks that this only affects luxury goods is wrong. "Even complex construction machines are now blatantly copied", explains Gottfried Beer from Hamm. "This is reason enough for us to actively support such actions to protect manufacturers of top-quality products."
Counterfeit copies are becoming more and more of a problem, particularly for innovative companies such as Hamm or Reisenthel. Therefore, these companies are supporting the action week, not least by attracting both public and media attention.
